Super Bowl 2010: The highest watched event in TV history

Super Bowl has attracted about 106 million viewers that is now considered highest viewing TV event beating MASH finale record of 27 years ago. Advertisers were able shell out a lot of money to buy a spot on the CBS. CBS reportedly collected around $2.5 to $3 dollars for 30 seconds spot on the TV. Advertisers now must be so relieved to hear that more than expected numbers of viewer tuned in for Super Bowl 2010.

This year was particularly important to see at least humor and creativity in the advertisement after the last year disappointing commercials. New comers such Electronic Arts and FlO TV brought their ads into Super Bowl game. Few companies like General Motors and Pepsi were among the some companies which opted out of the super bowl; however Pepsi reportedly shelled out a lot of money on You Tube or other social networking websites.
There may be plenty of reasons for 106 million viewer to watch Super Bowl specially during fragmented life where one has plenty of options to stay engaged like staying on social networking websites like Face Book, surfing internet and playing video games. However, here are our reasons for the success of this Super Bowl
1/ Snow Storm in the eastern part was one factor to attract a lot of viewers since people were advised to stay indoors. Washington was reportedly the second highest market for viewership after New Orleans.
2/ Sympathy with Saints was another factor since New Orleans was the city which had seen a lot of destruction during Katrina.
3/ Peyton Manning, quarter back Indianapolis, was considered the most highly known personality in the NFL
4/ The last CBS has done the remarkable job in promoting Super Bowl 2010 even they dispatched katie couric to interview Saint quarterback on the weekend of big event.

Well, there may be other reasons beyond above provided but the bottom line, this year Super Bowl was great success and will write in the books of history.
