Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd has said, “As I understand it, these matters are under investigation within the defence department and I will leave it for that investigation to reach its own conclusions.”

The Daily Telegraph in Sydney, reporting the allegations, claimed they first appeared in a briefing note to the Defence Minister, Joel Fitzgibbon.
