London, Aug 20 (IANS) Former “Friends” star Jennifer Aniston is under fire from disability groups after describing herself live on US television as a retard.

The actress was promoting her new movie “The Switch” on “Live with Regis and Kelly” when she said: “Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard!”, reports contactmusic.com.

The statement angered disability groups including The Arc, an organisation set up to provide support to those with intellectual disabilities.

“She is using language that is offensive to a large segment of the population in this country. Every time folks hear that word, it kind of reminds them of all the discrimination and oppression they’ve experienced in their lives,” said Peter Berns, chief operating officer, The Arc.

If the rumours of the contract being worth $1 billion are true, it would push the 52-year-old up the list of highest earning women in the world.
“John and Sonal’s love-making scenes come at a crucial point in the film and take the story in a new direction. Before shooting it, Nagesh explained the motive behind the passionate scene to both the actors,” said a source.

A long-awaited project, “Aashayein”, narrates the story of a compulsive gambler, Rahul Singh (John), who wins a fortune and soon realises he has only 90 days to live.

London, Aug 20 (IANS) A clothing company has filed a lawsuit against pop star Madonna claiming the singer has used their ‘Material Girl’ trademark for her clothing range with daughter Lourdes.

Madonna who worked on a range of clothes entitled Material Girl with her 13-year-old daughter is being sued by LA Triumph for using the same name as their clothing collection, reports contactmusic.com

“Our client and its predecessor have been continually selling similar clothes in similar retail outlets at similar price points under the Material Girl brand since at least 1997 and Madonna and her new-found company do not have the right to trade in the same space under this brand,” lawyer Peter told X17online:

Chris Arledge, an intellectual property lawyer, said: “As a result of their acts, our client faces a risk of being subsumed by Madonna’s profile, obvious worldwide notoriety and the massive spending campaign by Madonna, her company and retailers on her behalf.”

Last month, Lourdes’ father Carlos Leon admitted the teenager was the “creative force” of the clothing range, which is sold in US department store Macy’s.

“She’s 100 percent the creative force of Material Girl. She knew exactly what she wanted. She’s a trendsetter that draws from all different things to put together a look. She’s into different cultures and brings that into her style,” he said.

Islamabad, Aug 20(ANI): Pakistan’s Senate Committee on Privileges has recommended to President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) patron, Asif Ali Zardari, to remove PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt on charges that he maligned and questioned the credibility of some of its members on sports.

Senator Tahir Mashadi, who heads the privileges committee, said that the committee gave its recommendations after finding Butt guilty in the two privilege motions moved by the senators.

“The PCB chairman asked for more time to look into the allegations levelled against him. But the PCB chief was given enough time to explain his position which he could not,” The Daily Times quoted Mashidi, as saying.

“The committee found Ijaz guilty of breaching the privilege of the parliament and its members,” he added.

He further said that the recommendations of the committee would be forwarded to Zardari for Butt’s removal from his office through Sports Minister Ijaz Hussain Jakhrani.

In the first privilege motion, the PCB chief in February last year said in a statement that he was not answerable to the Parliament as the President is the patron and he was only answerable to him.

The second privilege motion was moved by Senator Haroon Khan and Senator Tariq Azeem, in which both the senators were of the view that Butt on an occasion passed derogatory remarks not only against them, but also against the whole parliament.

Mashadi had earlier said that the PCB chief would be given a fair opportunity to defend himself.

“He will be questioned on why he tried to malign and question the credibility of some senators in the media,” Mashadi had said.

“If he is able to prove that he didn’t breach the privileges of the Senators fine, but if he can’t do this then he will be censured, a recommendation will be sent to the President and Prime Minister to remove him immediately and we will also move a privilege motion against him in the Senate,” he added.

He further pointed out that it was not the first time that Butt was facing such charges.

Last year, some Senators had moved a privilege motion against him, but the matter was brushed under the carpet. (ANI)

London, August 20 (ANI): Jennifer Aniston says that TV newsman Bill O’Reilly’s comment about her was deeply insulting.

The actress has already responded to O’Reilly’s recent on-air comments, in which he branded her ‘destructive to our society’ for praising artificial insemination – the topic of her new film The Switch, reports the Daily Express.

And she isn’t leaving it there – during a breakfast TV chat in America, the actress added: ‘I never actually thought that my name and that name (Bill O’Reilly) would ever be in one sentence.”

‘He said I was actually glorifying 12-year-olds going out there and getting knocked up and doing it by themselves – because that’s what I like to preach!

‘People say things about me all the time and you just go, ‘Whatever…,’ but this was not just about me; it was saying, insulting women that are out there doing this on their own. My mother was single… It doesn’t always start out that way, but, it happens,’ she added. (ANI)

London, Aug 20 (IANS) Men spend nearly 450 km a year lost on the road — a distance equivalent from Delhi to Amritsar.

A survey in Britain found that over a quarter of men will wait at least half an hour before asking for directions.

Incidentally, 12 percent of the respondents were too proud to even ask for help at all, Daily Express reported Friday.

Men who are older than 55 have the best sense of direction and they got lost just 26 times a year on average.

Those who are below 25 years got lost 37 times a year despite being armed with satellite guided navigation devices.

The survey was carried out by motor insurer Sheilas’ Wheels.

It revealed that 74 percent of the women were more happy to ask for directions, with 37 percent pulling over as soon as they got lost, as compared to 30 percent of the male drivers.
