Madonna shares spiritual awakening in Israeli newspaper

New York, July 31 (IANS) Pop diva Madonna, who turned guest writer for Israel’s Yediot Ahronot newspaper, has in her article revealed her spiritual awakening upon discovering Jewish mysticism called Kabbalah.

Bearing the “Music” hitmaker’s byline, the story describes her awakening after which, she says “all the puzzle pieces started falling into place”, reports The New York Times.

Penelope Cruz left embarrassed over fashion faux pas

London, July 31 (IANS) Spanish actress Penelope Cruz was left shame-faced as she walked down a red carpet in a scarlet suit and blamed losing her luggage on a flight to London for the fashion faux pas.

The “Volver” beauty jetted in to the British capital from Madrid to attend a glamorous event at the city’s Somerset House with her “Broken Embraces” director, Pedro Almodovar and instead of donning a full-length gown for the glitzy bash, Cruz was forced to pull on a red suit she kept in her hand luggage – after the airline she was travelling with misplaced her bags, reports contactmusic.com.

Lok Sabha adjourned early over lack of quorum

New Delhi, July 31 (IANS) Lok Sabha was adjourned 16 minutes before schedule Friday over the issue of a lack of quorum and the poor attendance of MPs.

When Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Minister V. Narayanasamy was replying to the Private Members Bill introduced in the house, some members wanted quorum.

Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) “Am I a criminal or a terrorist?” asked an upset Emraan Hashmi Friday. The Bollywood actor alleged he had been denied a house he wanted to buy in the upmarket Pali Hill area of Mumbai because he was Muslim.

The actor, who was not given a no objection certificate (NOC), believes the housing society in Pali Hill was hiding the real reason for its refusal.

Chandigarh gets fifth swine flu case

Chandigarh, July 31 (IANS) A 17-year-old resident of neighbouring Mohali town tested positive for the influenza A (H1N1) virus and has been admitted to a Chandigarh hospital, health officials said Friday.

According to the officials, this is the first case in Chandigarh where infection spread through close contact. The patient’s sister tested positive for the flu. She returned from Singapore last week.

Penelope Cruz loves London, but not its weather

London, July 31 (ANI): Penelope Cruz does not quite like British weather.

Dressed in a red trouser suit and heels for the UK premiere of her latest film Broken Embraces, she said that the English climate didn’t suit her.

“I love London… but I have difficulties with the rainy weather,” the Telegraph quoted her as saying.
