Stories of real heroes inspire me: Aamir Khan

Mumbai, March 10 (IANS) Bollywood star Aamir Khan, whose recent release “3 Idiots” took a critical look at India’s education system, says that he gets inspired by stories of real-life heroes who go beyond their limitations to bring change in one’s life and in society.

“When I see real heroes and listen to their stories, it really inspires me. I think we have, in different degrees, strengths and abilities,” said Aamir presenting an award at the Real Heroes Awards of CNN-IBN and Reliance Industries Limited here Wednesday.

Nobel laureate Ramakrishnan is India Abroad Person of the Year

New York, March 6 (IANS) Indian-American Nobel laureate Venkatraman Ramakrishnan has been named the India Abroad Person of the Year 2009 by the ethnic weekly newspaper.

A total of nine awards were presented in seven categories at the seventh annual India Abroad Person of the Year Awards gala Friday. The Who’s Who of the Indian-American community attended the event, held at the National Museum of the American Indian in the magnificent Alexander Hamilton US Customs House here.

Rancour, spats – the royalty issue no music to anyone

National Conference protest against “3 idiots” remarks

Srinagar, March 1 (ANI): Hundreds of activists of Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling National Conference (NC) staged a protest in Srinagar on Monday condemning the derogatory remarks made by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against its leaders on a popular social networking site.

National Conference seeks PDP’s apology for ‘3 Idiots’ slur

Jammu, Feb 26 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling National Conference Friday demanded an apology from the opposition Peoples Democratic party (PDP) for depicting three generations of the Abdullah family as “3 Idiots” on social networking site Facebook and circulating an SMS to draw attention to it.

Addressing a press conference here, National Conference ministers and legislators slammed the PDP for “stooping so low in politics, while seeking to settle scores with the ruling party”.

Harbhajan slams media after Test win

Kolkata, Feb 18 (IANS) After piloting India to another Test win by taking a bagful of wickets, off-spinner Harbhajan Singh Thursday lashed out at the media for showing the players in poor light whenever they fail on the field.

“Thanks to all the media, they create sensations that Bhajji is not bowling, that Bhajji is doing this, doing that,” Harbhajan said sarcastically at the media meet after the second Test match against South Africa that the hosts won by an innings and 57 runs.
